Hello all -

I have received many replies to the article I sent out about the recent
change in the status of 112 NYC gardens last week. Thoughts about the hard
work of many, and the money of a few, as well as the struggle that
continues. Although there are many issues at stake, including many worrying
about setting a precedent that a rich person has to "save" community
gardens, and the fact that many gardens are still in danger, most everyone
has expressed a desire to thank Bette Midler for her involvement.

I have spoken with her publicist, who will forward a letter of thanks,
which I would like to write, taken in everyone's ideas and comments, and
then sign - from community gardeners nationwide. If you have specific
thoughts you would like in the letter, please send them to me by Wednesday,
and also send me your name and location, if you would like that included
too. I plan to send some flowers from my plot the Echo Park community
garden in LA. These are my thoughts - add to them as you wish...
