Loved your post. There's got to be a reason my brother gets up every
day and farms rather than going to work for a computer firm.

I also would like to point out that ADM's slogan ("Supermarket to the
World") and Dennis Avery's exhortation to "feed the world" rely on the
basic assumption that "the world" has the money to pay to feed itself.
On a radio show with Martin Andreas, I repeatedly asked the question --
"What about the people who cannot afford to eat your products? How will
you feed them?" This is an absolutely unanswerable question if one's
premise is our for-profit food system.
