I will shortly forward a couple of messages that did not go through to the
full list due to the way in which the senders replied to the digest format
of sanet-mg.
PLEASE take care when replying to sanet messages that you receive in the
digest format. For anyone not subscribed to the digest format, see below
for more information.
Several things to watch for in your replies to the digest--consider it
payment for the luxury of receiving the digest format:
1) Be sure to copy and paste the Subject line back into your reply.
Otherwise, the subject line on your reply will read something like
RE: sanet-mg-digest V1 #1012
This tells the reader NOTHING about the message you are sending, and it
really fools the computer, which is madly trying to archive and categorize
sanet messages so that web users can read all the messages in one thread.
The search engine doesn't really like these subject lines, either. See

2) DO NOT include the whole sanet-mg-digest in your reply to the list.
There is a limit on the size of messages sent to sanet, and some of the
problems with messages going through have been because, with the whole
digest included in replies, the message is too large and gets bounced.
This means that you should copy and paste into a new message SOME or ALL of
the text from the one message you are replying to--but NOT all of the text
from the digest, or your message will bounce and I'll have to contact you
and tell you so.
For those interested in the digest format of sanet, here's the scoop:
The digest compiles sanet-mg messages into one message, so you receive a
large message with 5-15 individual messages all included along with a Table
of Contents for that digest. So on a normal day, you receive about two
sanet-mg-digest messages, with a minimum of one per day.
The pros and cons of the digest format include:
CONS: the way you need to reply (see above), the one very large message that
makes it difficult to just print out or forward or save a single message (I
usually go the the web to print or forward a single message from the
archives http://www.sare.org/htdocs/hypermail/ ), and you cannot read
the subject line from your inbox and decide to read or delete individual
messages, since the subject line of each digest reads: sanet-mg-digest V1
#XXXX.
PROS: you only receive a couple of sanet messages per day, relieving your
mailbox overload, you can rapidly read through the days' messages in one
message, and if you're really behind on reading sanet, you can delete days'
and weeks' worth of messages with a few key strokes :^)
