Contamination

The definition for contamination of crops by GMO's within Organic circles
will have to be absolutely none detectable. This derives from last years
proposed rules from the USDA. The response from consumers was
overwhelmingly NO GMO's. Some of the methods of testing for gmo's give
results which are simply Some or None. Whether this standard will be
practical is another question. Most of us in organic circles have come to
realize that we should not describe our products as pesticide-free because
of inherent background pesticide levels now existent practically everywhere
on planet earth at some level or other.
Clearly the GMO level issue will be much more complicated because plants
reproduce themselves, unlike pesticides.
