Hello--

the following statement appeared in an e-newsletter sent out by a food
vendor in England:

>Nationally sales of organic food are growing at a rate such that, if it
were to >continue at the same rate, 80% of all the food we eat will be
organic by the year 2010.

The vendor received this information at a symposium held in London. He
(Roger Biddle of Wessex Provender Foods) gave this explanation:

>You probably know that we have
>just been through the BSE saga with virtually the whole of
>the British Beef herd being destroyed. It has cost the
>British taxpayer more than the bill for world war two in
>addition to the health risk!! The British consumer is
>therefore ultra wary of anyone messing with their food and
>are increasingly turning to organic foods as a result.

Wouldn't it be neat if the US could look forward to 80% organic in 10 years?
