Chickens also love Jerusalem Artichokes, and I have found that they will
grow in hot, dry sandy soil or clay and with a great deal of neglect.
They can also make a god mini-windbreak.

Super soup (South American/British adaptation) -

fry onions (when did British food ever start with anything else?)

add chopped potatoes and JA, roughly equal quantities,

add a few sticks of thinnly sliced celery, several tablespoons of cashew
nut butter, handfuls of chopped cashew nuts, salt and pepper, a few
tablespoons of horseradish sauce, a couple of bay leaves

add 1/2 and 1/2 milk and water to cover

boil boil boil til all soft and mushy (another Great British Tradition)

you can also ad a few bits of bacon at the beginning in the frying, if
your taste runs to that
Enjoy

Cheers,

Joanne Tippett (a Brit)
