One question that I had asked was about the lignin content of
roots/shoots of cover crop species.
I have just discovered a source of lignin content info for roots and
shoots associated with the following covercrops: cereal rye, annual
ryegrass, Austrian winter pea, hairy vetch and canola.
Kuo, S., Sainju, U.M. and E.J. Jellum. (1997) Winter cover crop effects on
soil organic C and carbohydrate in soil. Soil Science Society of Am. J.
61:145-152.
They also measured total dry matter, c:n ratio and carbohydrate content of
the roots and shoots
Thanks again...
