Insofar as it is possible, I 'd like to get hold of some figures which would
represent the "sustianable" yields per hectare of (Preferably finished)
cotton, flax and other vegetable based fibres. The question is horribly
general, but a general answer is actually wanted, to be used in an
assessment of what is "globally" sustainable.

To give an idea of the terms of reference I am using a figure of 3 tonnes
per hectare as a typical yield of wheat, as that would allow a wide margin
of safety, low rainfall in some countries, and allowance for changes which
may be required in the future to secure permanent sustainability.

Any Ideas?
