Stimulating Corn Root Growth

Hello All:

I am looking for information on any products that will help stimulate corn
root growth.

The Problem: When side-dressing nitrogen or cultivating a growing corn
crop, sometimes corn roots can be pruned which slows down the growth and
development of a plant causing a reduction in corn yields.

The Question: Could some product be applied to the soil when cultivating
or applying nitrogen that would stimulate the re-growth of roots thereby
reducing the chance of reduced yield caused by root pruning?

I have been able to find some information on products that can be applied
to woody type plants, but I don't think they are effective on agronomic
crops, especially monocot species. Any information would be helpful!

Thanks,

Brian
