Hello!
I am writing to let you know about a Summer Internship Program at the Sirius
Ecovillage this coming summer. As we don't have a large budget for
advertising, we are relying on low cost methods such as email and are hoping
that others will help us get the word out. If you have questions and/or
would like additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me. And
if you feel you've received this message by mistake, please let me know and
I will remove you from our list. Thanks!
In community,

Summer Internship Program
in Ecological Community Living at Sirius Community
June 4th - July 31st, 1999
Sirius is an intentional, spiritual community, educational center, and
ecovillage located on 90 acres of woods 15 minutes from Amherst,
Massachussetts. The community consists of 35 adults and children who
practice simple and sustainable living in harmony with nature.
Rooted in real-world learning in the context of community, the Summer
Internship Program at Sirius will seek to revive the age old wisdom of
learning as an apprentices to mentors who are engaged and experienced in
their work. Program participants will be encouraged to custom design their
internship by focusing on one or more of the following areas: Green
Building, Ecovillage Design, Appropriate Technology, Organic Gardening,
Sustainable Food Systems, Ecovillage Networking and Outreach, Conference
Center Management, and Personal and Community Health. Others may become
available.
In addition, interns will experience the richness of intentional community
living through dialogues with experienced community members, group
discussions, seminars, and participation in the daily rhythms at Sirius
(including organic vegetarian food preparation, meditations, and service
work).
A special benefit of the Summer Internship Program is the opportunity to
assist and participate in four of Sirius' weekend workshops at no extra
charge (a $300 value):
- Greenhouse Construction June 5-6
- The Nuts and Bolts of Community June 25-27
- Heat, Energy, and Water Systems July 23-25
- Wild Edibles (post-program) August 14-15
The fee for the 1999 Sirius Internship Program is $950.00. Food and lodging
are available at an additional variable rate depending on type of residency.
Internship opportunities are limited to 12 and are filling up fast! We hope
to hear from you soon.
