food system, was... natural law prophets

One enlightening assignment that we had in a class on Sustainable
Communities was interviewing an elder. We found a grandparent or other
wise old person to ask questions like:
Back when you were my age, what did you eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner,
and snacks?
Where did that food come from?

As you would expect, the food was simpler and healthier than the junk most
students eat now-a-days, and something very striking was how *CLOSE* to
home most foods came from.
