Folks: my but you are a wonderfully creative and helpful bunch of
people. My thanks for a most stimulating and powerful set of
responses to my query on objectivity and the role of a university. I
am preparing a series of 4 GE talks for disparate audiences this
spring, and will likely use (with permission and attribution) some or
all of the input you've so graciously given. The talks will be
mounted on my homepage after they are delivered, for all to read and
