squirrels (and politics)

Dear SANET,
Could someone give us some tips on controlling squirrels, a major pest in
our organic cacao orchards in the Lacandon rainforest. Surely some
Northern fruit growers have had to deal with this problem.

Posts about politics and agriculture are not "off topic". Politics came
first in human evolution--states and state-like polities, kings and
political bosses--and it was politics that obligated people to become
farmers. Before politics there was plenty to go around and we just didn't
need to farm. then came city states and politics and people were corraled
(by force, usually) into working much harder to feed the "politicians"--and
thus it has been for 10,000 years. Of course, we have all the benefits of
civilization. But we better pay attention to (and discuss) the politics if
farmers are to retain something akin to freedom.
