How big is your orchard? Is it practicle to wrap your young trunks with a
spiral plastic wrap for the mice? It works well in our friends nursury on
our CSA farm, and in our small orchard.
We also just got a Jack Russell Terrier(Terror). Any mice are going to have
a hard time around the farm this year! Never seen a quicker, more persistant
dog. She requiers some managemant, but it's worth it. They are not hard on
bird populations like cats can be.
If you decide to fence deer out, Iv'e heard a horizontal fence is more
effective than a vertical fence. Many animals are more flustered by a 3
wires space at differing levels and different intervals, than three wires on
the same post.
Good luck.
