query about old sheetrock

We have an old house that needs to be torn down. We are going to salvage
the wood from it for reuse, but it was built in 1956, has sheetrock
ceilings and walls. 'Experts' say sheetrock is primarily gypsum and should
break down. We wanted to chip the stuff up and use it to level the
driveways, not around food production. Has anyone any experience dealing
with old sheetrock, and if it can't be applied in this manner, how can it
be gotten rid of?
thanks for any thoughts
