Using Oxygen and propane mixed and igniting it was a method described in a
"Growing for Market" article some years ago (4 or 5). It was in a profile of
a market farmer. He explained that propane is heavier than air and will go
down the tunnels. I wondered if he used too much gas would he harvest his
carrots at the same time.
Please do not use poisons! Sick and/or thirsty gophers will come to the
surface where raptors and owls will snatch them as easy prey. They'll feed
them to their youngsters and eat them. Secondary poisoning is one of the
main killers of these birds these days. If you think you have gopher
problems now, wait till all the predators are dead.
