Thanks Anita, for you opinion of my manners. It was indeed harsh. I
thought it important not to understate my response, as we are so
conditioned by the constraints of academic scientific writing. I invite
you to offer your comments on the substance of the original post.

Rest assured, I was not exaggerating my response to the idea, if that is
what is mean by "overreacting." If something else was meant, then I do
not understand the above request. I hope many others will share their
feelings on the issue in this forum.

In summary, I will personally rototill my driveway and front yard to
grow my own food before I will knowingly purchase food or anything else
produced by contracted prison labor. This idea appeals to me about as
much as taking up cannibalism, and I can say this here because I am NOT
submitting this opinion to the PNAS journal as if it were something
based on science. I further believe that other consumers of organic
foods will feel very much the same as I do.
