farmer health and pesticides

I thought some might be interested in these articles. They bring to
light some of the perceptions by which farmers and farmworkers operate
when working with pesticides/herbicides.

The Journal of the Society for Applied Anthropology: Human Organization
has a special section dedicated to "health risks in agricultural work".
Vol. 57, no. 3 Fall 1998.

Some of the articles are:
"Perceptions of Pesticide Associated Cancer Risks among Farmers: A
Qualitative Assessment"
"Farmworker and Farmer Perceptions of Farmworker Agricultural Chemical
Exposure in North Carolina"
"California Farmworkers: Dilemmas in Developing Interventions for Health
and Medical Care Concerns"

And then consider the toxins urban landscapers and home gardeners put
their hands into. Do urban dwellers suffer some of the same effects?
Suffer some of the same perceptions?
