Soil Saver

In response to Lawrence London's post re the Soil Saver, this
tillage tool is a mainstay of Fred Kirschenmann's equipment/organic
operation in North Dakota. He uses it for areation and weed management,
since it cuts off the roots of the just emerging weeds without disrupting
the soil surface -- which would increase erosion losses and loss of soil
moisture -- nor bringing new weed seeds to the surface. It pulls easy and
large areas can be covered relatively quickly. He sings the praises of the
SS and has years and years of experience using it for many different
reasons. Stop by in the May-Sept. period on your way through Windsor, N.D.
and you'll probably see it in action.
