They are out of Heidi Ho-Ho Houdini, a calico unregistered French Alpine doe,
by Ivy Acres Instigator ("Stinky Scotty"), our registered Alpine buck.
It was a difficult birth complicated by pregnancy toxemia 24 hours before
labor, for which I had to call Dr. Tim Vaughan out into the Blizzard of 99.
His partner Dr. Hoffman came out the next night to assist Heidi, who hadn't
dilated quite enough to deliver the big kids without help.
I just did a 4 AM barn check and everybody's doing fine. Babies only needed
their quilted coats for the first 24 hours, and their yearling brothers are
taking their baby-warming duties very seriously.
