I thought by specifying that organic referred to a method of production that excluded synthetic inputs, Steve left the door open for certified organic producers to commit all sorts of other environmental sins of mismanagement.
The fact that most organic producers are following a philosophy of production that lessens the odds that they'll abuse the land, doesn't mean that the term "organic" _necessarily_ means "environmentally-benign".
Well, he knew he'd ruffle feathers....
