Here's an on-line resource I thought might interest some of you. The
annual Crop Production Summary, by the National Agricultural
Statistics Service (NASS-USDA).

"This file contains annual U.S. data for acreage, yield, and
production by crop."
Yields for 1994-1998 are given, in year by year reports (for 1995
through 1999).
The 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999 reports are available in text
format. The 1999 report is also available in .PDF format.
