Mad dowg disease

Hi All,

It seems we've always had a couple of dogs around our home and farm. They
are always(haha) well mannered and a pleasure to be around. As they reach an
age of 10 or so, they often contract a strange 'wasting disease'. We
generally don't have a zillion tests, treatments, and medications done
on/for them, but let nature take it's course.
They die.

I am wondering if this wasting disease is canine spongiform encephelopothy?
I wonder if others have noticed similar wasting symtoms in there aging
cannid companions? Is this wide spread? Is it another vector of CJD?

Ours pets generally eat stuf like science diet, eukanuba, ond other dowg
fuds touted to be the best. I guess I know where the raw material for the
pet foods come from, and therefore wonder if my pets were/are suffering from
another nvCJD? Is this serious, or should it be ignored like other problems
in modern society?

Does anyone know of a pet food that is more wholesomely produced?

That is all...Thanks,
Greg
