International Programs Electronic Mailing List
#71

International Opportunities for University-USDA Collaboration

The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Foreign Agricultural Service,
International Cooperation and Development (USDA/FAS/ICD), is
coordinating USDA bids to implement country-specific World Bank- and
other International Financial Institution-funded projects. We bid on
projects where there is a strong government-to-government component,
and we bid with university, college and private sector partners, thus
giving "value added" to U.S. bids in international competitions. We
offer our collaboration to all U.S. bidders who are finalists at the
"short list" stage.

Working with the International Programs office of the USDA's
Cooperative State, Research, Education, and Extension Service
(CSREES), we would like to broaden our collaboration with the U.S.
university and college sector, including those institutions which may
have only minimal experience in the international arena, but would
like to increase their institutional capabilities to work overseas.
We have some experience in the international competitions to obtain
these projects, and wish to draw upon and complement the expertise in
the U.S. Land-Grant system as effectively as possible.

Future opportunities will be included in announcements through this
list. If you would like to be sure to obtain future listings, or
discuss these potential opportunities further, please indicate your
interest to Peter Koffsky, FAS/ICD, by e-mail, Koffsky@FAS.USDA.GOV.
