Job Announcement
AERO (Alternative Energy Resources Organization ) is a nonprofit
membership organization based in Helena, Montana, which serves the
Rocky Mountain and High Plains West of the northern U.S. and southern
Canada. AERO is a widespread community of dedicated people working
to create social, economic and environmental health-- one farm, one
neighborhood , one community at a time. Organized 25 years ago, AERO
promotes sustainable agriculture and local food systems, smart growth
and transportation, resource conservation and community self-
reliance.
The full-time position AERO is seeking to fill is responsible for the
management and on-going development of two programs: AERO's
10-year-old Farm and Ranch Improvement Club Program and the
Sustainable Agriculture Professional Development of Youth Educators
project. Both programs involve a club format where the Program
Manager will be required to provide technical assistance and
networking with other resource providers. This position is
responsible to the executive director in a cooperative team
environment and to AERO's 600 plus members, particularly AERO's Ag
Task Force, which sets agriculture program direction.
The successful candidate will possess the following:
* private foundation and government grant-writing and reporting
experience with a track record of fundraising success.
* program development and management experience in a grassroots
nonprofit or with government ( min 2 yrs required)
* experience with and knowledge of principles, practices and systems
of sustainable agriculture and conventional agriculture.
*Experience working in a rural setting; excellent rapport with
farmers and ranchers.
*Ability to handle multiple tasks and keep people on deadline in a
small, cooperative office environment.
Compensation
In the 20s, commensurate with experience. Generous tenure increases,
medical and disability insurance, excellent vacation, holiday and
sick benefits, pre-tax medical and child care savings account and
modest retirement. The funding for this position is secure for one
year only.
