When I was in Idaho, Mexican labor was always in demand because of the high
quality of the work. Wouldn't an easy solution to the illegal migrant labor
problem be to legalize it? The government could make it easier to get
temporary work visas. If the public believes that migrant laborers are
cashing in too much on US benefits (such as making children US citizens by
crossing the border to give birth) the benefits could be restricted in some
way sufficient to make the policy politically tractable.
