AGRICULTURAL ALTERNATIVES III

`Exploring Emerging Organic Markets'
January 15, 1999
Wye Research and Education Center, Queenstown, MD

The 1999 Agricultural Alternatives winter meeting will focus on new
markets for grain crops, fruits, and vegetables produced with
certified organic methods. A registration fee of $15 covers all
meeting activities, including lunch. The conference runs 9:30 am -
2:30 pm. (9 am registration).

Deborah Cohen, Cohen Marketing Services will speak on the: "Lay of the
Land: Growth of Organic Segment of the Food Industry" and "Other
Players in the Market". Kara Cummings, Manager, Fresh Fields Whole
Foods Market, Annapolis will speak on "Consumer Demands at Retail
Stores". There will be interactive discussions regarding product
control and developing markets.

`Holistic Management Training'
January 14, 1999 (pre-conference workshop)
Wye Research and Education Center, Queenstown, MD

Meeting participants are also invited to attend a pre-meeting workshop
on the principles of Holistic Management (HM), a whole farm management
approach that enables people to make decisions that satisfy immediate
needs without jeopardizing their future well-being. Preston Sullivan,
ATTRA, will provide leadership for the HM Workshop. A workshop fee of
$15 will include all course materials and lunch. Attendance at this
workshop will be limited to the first 20 registrants. The conference
runs 9:30am - 3:30 pm (9 am registration)
