I agree that people should read this story. However, at the risk of sounding
self-serving, I suggest they also turn to page 36 for a report on the
alternative. Tim King and I wrote a piece called "Bringing the Land Back to
Life." It discusses how some grass-based livestock farmers are improving their
local ecosystems through careful management and monitoring. It also reports on
efforts by these farmers -- by working with the Land Stewardship Project and the
Sustainable Farming Association -- to join forces and market their sustainable
meat to consumers.I commend Sierra for allowing the opportunity to tell the
story of the "other revolution" in livestock agriculture.
