I think this was the original idea behind cooeratives where farmers
could get access to inputs at reasonableprices and have access to the
direct consumer market for their commodities with value added
processing. this was one of the incentives for the alcohol fuel industry
at one time and marketing cooperatives such as Sunkist, Ocaan Spray and
Land O' Lakes-

But as Tom points out- we have severe problems Today which won't wait
for an intermediate or long term solution- Maybe, as is being infered on
this list, there will be a natural collapse and those with the high debt
service- rapid,immediate expansion folks- will have to find other uses
for that large amount of square footage tied up in the buildings- or the
bank will have to. And then the environmental issue will be settled de
facto! and those pollution and small farm issues will become moot.
