On not splitting the list

Whoa, whats all this talk about splitting up the sustainable
agriculture list??? I thought, as Patrick Madden recently observed,
that sustainbility is about holism. And if you start splitting the
list by subject area... well those of us who have attended a US
university anytime during the last four decades know where that
leads, and its not pretty. It is interesting to note, however, the
concerns which seem to drive this interest in narrowing the
information band are similar to the reasons given for discipliary
specialization.
I suggest that the list not be split as a matter of holistic
principle.

OK, I admit that I've only been on the list for a few days, but
maybe that gives me the properly detached perspective..."out of the
mouths of babes..." or something like that..
