RSED-OICD-USDA is accepting proposals for its scientific exchange
program which promotes international cooperation in agriculture and
forestry to attain mutual benefit through short-term (one to four
weeks) exchange visits of U.S. and foreign scientists. Proposals
are accepted for consideration for exchanges with any country
worldwide where benefits to U.S. agriculture may accrue. Proposals
are accepted from U.S. university and USDA scientists, as well as
non-profit private organizations. Proposals are selected according
to their impact on one or more of the following:
--exchange of scientific, statistical, and agroeconomic
information;
--collection of unique resources such as germplasm or
biological control organisms unavailable in the United States;
--acquisition of special research, conservation or production
techniques, or strengthening institutional structure and
management;
--field work and consultations on significant problems facing
U.S. agriculture; and
--development of future, long-term research.
Although proposals covering a wide range of subjects will be
accepted, responding to recommendations of the Agricultural
Science and Technology Review Board, the 1995 Program expressly
solicits proposals in two areas:
--HUMAN NUTRITION/DIET/HEALTH/FOOD SAFETY, INCLUDING THE SOIL
QUALITY/HUMAN HEALTH INTERFACE
--AGRICULTURE/ENVIRONMENT INTERFACE, INCLUDING WATER QUALITY
ENHANCEMENT AND WASTE MANAGEMENT
Requests for proposal guidelines should be directed to:
