The School of Nutrition at Tufts University is initiating a
master's program in Agriculture, Food and Environment on our
Medford, Massachusetts, campus (just outside Boston). We want
to let you know about this program, and ask your help in
publicizing it. The curriculum will be policy-oriented,
addressing growing awareness of the interconnections among
agriculture, food and environment and the need to consider all
three in developing solutions to problems in any one area.
The response we have received from potential employers of its
graduates is that a strong demand exists for professionals who
are competent to deal with such problems.

Our program integrates Tufts University's strengths in
nutrition, food policy, health sciences, and environmental
policy. It is offered through the School of Nutrition, in
collaboration with the Department of Urban and Environmental
Policy. The School of Nutrition is an innovative multi-
faceted group of researchers and policy analysts in social
science and biomedical research, with academic programs in
food policy and nutrition, biomedical nutrition, and
dietetics. The Department of Urban and Environmental Policy
emphasizes interdisciplinary work, field-based education,
nonprofit management skills, the role of values in public
policy, and the full range of policy impacts.

Students are admitted through the School of Nutrition on a
rolling admissions basis for the Spring and Fall semesters.
Applications are being accepted now for the Fall, 1994,
semester. Limited tuition scholarships are available.

We would be glad to provide brochures or additional
information if requested. Thank you for your help in getting
information to colleagues and students who would like to know
about this degree program.
