Hi Everyone,
I'm searching for data to perform a net enery analysis
comparing the energy requirements of alternative vegetable
production systems for fresh vegetables consumed in New York
State (especially lettuce, tomatoes, green peppers or
comparable cultivars). Specifically:
a. greenhouse production in Europe with air freight to New
York
b. field production in California and Florida (or
Arizona...) with truck freight to New York
I need data for the energy consumed for all basic phases of
vegetable production: field prep, harvesting, shipping, storage
etc.
I am using the Cornell Mann Library USDA data base and the USDA
Economic Research Service recommended to Michelle Simms. I
would appreciate any further suggestions.
