Among the (overdue) library books I'm excavating from my office and
returning, I see one that one might interest some of you:
Pesticide Litigation Manual, John Johnson and George Ware, 1993
edition, published by Clark Boardman Callaghan (part of its
environmental law series; call 800-323-1336).
L of C #: KF3959/J64/1992.
I found Part II, A Lawyer's Guide to Pesticides, VERY USEFUL for the
professional or generalist. It includes a short course in pesticide
chemistry; pesticide formulations; modes of chemical action for
insecticides, herbicides, fungicides; and chemicals used to control
invertebrates and vertebrates, plants and microorganisms. Quite
thorough and accessible! Also, there are chapters on pesticide
toxicity and hazard; toxicity to nontarget species; drift; handling and
storage; legal theories of liability, FIFRA requirements; and lots of legal
stuff that meant very little to me but it's nice to know it's there....
A happy new solar year. May it bring good, safe, sustainable harvests
for all, and a Hall of Fame wall for Steve Carlton.
