Wes Jackson at the Land Institute in Salina, Kansas, has a project going
called the Sunshine Farm. They are measuring the energy inputs and outputs
of various farming methods to see if they can come up with a model that
generates a net output. Conventional farming consumes far more energy than
it produces. Someone involved in that project can probably give you the
information you're looking for.
