The only astronomical planting I have heard of is Biodynamic farming which
plants by the phase of the moon and its location relative to the planets, not
by astrological signs.
Part of the idea is that tidal and gravitational forces from the moon
influence turgor pressure and fluid movement in plant tissues. Many herbalists
I know harvest their herbs this way --when the essential oils and fluids of
the plants are most concentrated in the useful part (root for echinacea, leaf
for feverfew, etc.)

- - Correction: Biodynamics uses the sign that the moon is in AND the
influence of the planets. Also note that the signs used are astronomical,
NOT astrological. The astrological calender is about 30 degrees off from
what is actually out there in the skies; because they haven't moved their
calender with the precession of the equinox. Why that is, I haven't a
clue. The eastern 'astrologers' use the astronomical calender.
And, the forces in consideration in 'bio-dynamics' (means of living
forces) are mostly spiritual, not gravitational, coming from the main idea
that everything is of energy and it is all interwoven aspects of ONE.
