"Environmental Group Quits Panel Formed by Gore." Washington Post,
29 October 98, A21.
The Environmental Working Group has resigned from an advisory
panel that was created by Vice President Gore to help balance
the interests of farm groups and environmentalists over
pesticides. The group said the administration is bowing to
industry pressure to delay plans to reduce pesticide risks.
Loretta Ucelli, spokeswoman for EPA Administrator Carol M.
Browner, said that "the panel is taking its time in order to
do the job right." She said a report is due by August of next
year.
