I would submit, however, that the kind of conflicts revealed in this
study - which is about the only one I've seen that specifically
addressed this - are pervasive. I base this on 18 years of
experience as a professor, watching research being funded, conducted,
and published all around me every day. It is a point that is hard to
"prove", and indeed, is both embarrassing and even hurtful just to
suggest as worthy of study, but it should be readily tested using the
same kind of methodology used in the Toronto study. Ann
