Gordon,
;I think you are naive to think you can avoid ideology; everyone has an
;ideological bias, some are just too naive, stubborn, or foxy to admit it.
;As a farmer I would like to be the first to admit that farmers too often
;have their noses too close to the ground and dismiss the big picture
;issues as BS. The debate over what sustainability is far from over,
;and how that plays out will of course tremendously affect sustainable
;agricultural practice. I vote for a balance on sanet, which seems to me
;what we've got.

I may have worded poorly. I don't intend to avoid ideology I just don't
want ideaolic post to dominate the list. To use this as a straw man
suppose some one is trying to get a second crop in after a wheat crop
this year. At harvest and it was too dry to work the ground. He just
got a 3 inch rain. What is the best way to get the crop in. He does not
have enough moisture to work the ground and then plant the crop. He
has two options. Burn the stubble and plant the crop or plant the crop
in the stubble as is. I would expect comment about the adverse affects
of burning the stubble. What I do not want is two weeks of post about the
evils of burning stubble. I would expect to see a lot of negative comment
but
along with the negative comment I would like to see a practical alternative
discussed as well.

I am in the process of creating prag-l. You can look the name a practical
Ag or possibly PRAGmatic Ag:*} I have a dummy running I will talk to
my ISP about hosting the list tonight. I am working on the mission statement
right now. Any one wanting to comment can send email to prag-l@couger.com.
I will send you a rough draft for comment.

Gordon
