I want to say that I've been enjoying these discussions and really find
the topic interesting, perennially interesting. I also want to say that
I've been filing away a lot of posts to read when I finally get some time.

Also, there is no-till on a home garden scale (Ruth Stout/Bill
Mollison/etc.) and no-till on a large acreage (involving some of the fancy
and fascinating equipment for rolling and jab planting and all that.) I
feel like I fall between those and don't have much of an idea how to go
about *no* till on about 1/2+ acre of flowers for cutting (to sell)
(and about another 1/4 acre for personal consumption, vegies, fruit,
medicinals, flowers, and "weeds" :-) when
that's all the land I have access to and I am trying to, at least, *not*
lose money I don't think the super mulch method would work since I'd have
to buy in a lot. (I do mulch with my cover crop and with bought straw/hay
and leaves when I can get them but couldn't ever afford to super-thick
mulch.) But, the only non-human driven equipment I own is a lawn mower and
shredder (both used for shredding mulching materials and I like it that
way. Couldn't afford anything else and don't want more gasoline. So, I
won't be buying a roller anytime soon:-) I have greatly reduced my
disturbance of the soil by using more perennial plants in my production
and by surface application of compost and surface mulching with cover
crops and by trying to only do very shallow cultivation when I feel it is
necessary (and if you can apply compost thick enough you don't need to
surface cultivate at all to transplant :-) But, when you're starting with
clay and don't have access to lots of og matter mulch, you know, your
options are limited...

Anyhow, I hope this discussion will continue/begin again in a few montsh
as I will have more time then.

Well, you folks who are doing this on a larger than home garden scale keep
on posting. I find it so interesting (and when I get to more modern
computer I'm going to check out that video clip :-)

Thanks,
eliza
