Compulsory certification is a rip off. It is forcing growers to pay a stupid
tax to a lot of folks that don't help on the farm only suck money out of
it. I
have to pay a certifier (pay their rent, computers, gas and air fair to their
meetings, etc. I have to pay a local chapter and pay local people for their
paper work and it is going up every year. I have to pay an inspector what
ever
he asked . One year $50 the next $250 the next who knows they just gave them
self a raise now they get 2/3 of their pay just for driving over to the farm
and may have to drive many miles and sleep over ,I also have to pay their
gas, hotel, massage girl or what ever and meals etc. I got inspected 2 times
last year in the same week once by a Ca state inspector (who has a job also of
checking for bad and rare diseases and pest which they can carry here and
once
by my certifier who may be carrying diseases and pest from the last farm they
checked and I pay for both for the same dam thing . they want me to pay for
lab tests and the USDA wants their pound of flesh and on and on. I think
it is
becoming a big bureaucratic bottom less hole that the farmer will have to fill
with his hard earned money and too many folks have their hand out. They talk
about saving the small farmer while they are bleeding them. How many
bureaucratic pencil pushers does it take to see that a small farmer is
organic. It is like the Mafia forcing you to pay or you can not do business.
I think they are a bunch of pimps telling you if you want to work that corner
you have to pay them off. Organic is now a political football subject to hard
money, soft money and back door money. Just say no to the compulsory
certification rip off. They set in little rooms and frame their mischief and
call it a law and use that law to steal our money and our rights and force us
into searches of property and any other hoops they want us to jump over and
yet
they say organic growing is not safer. They make you carry the cross but
don't
let you have the crown. If it is not any safer why put us through this BS.
There are very few growers that want force compulsory anything. If you need
certification you can get it easy there are lots of folks that will sign
you up
and take your money if you don't need it you should be free to tell folks how
you grow the food. Growing organic has been free for 60000 years only this
generation of vipers wants to charge a grower because he is organic and force
you to pay to prove it every year Year after year. They could not call it a
"stupid tax " because no one would sign up so they called it a "compulsory
certification tax" and force us to pay it if we want to keep growing and
selling organic. Just say no to the forced compulsory certification ripoff.
