The Ukraine Commercial Agriculture Development Project provides
direct, practical assistance to hard-pressed private farmers in
Ukraine. Begun in 1996, this effort offers access to the full
resources of the Cooperative State Research, Education and Extension
Service (CSREES) and U.S. cooperating universities. Current project
emphases include establishing cooperative service centers to provide
farmers with desperately needed inputs, equipment and credit.
We are seeking a specialist with expertise in such areas as farm
management, business management, cooperative and agribusiness
development. The specialist will be responsible for coordinating
local education and development efforts to facilitate formation and
operation of cooperatives. The specialist will also assist the
cooperative in developing business plans to meet their specific needs.
Tentative dates for the assignment are September 1, 1998 - September
30, 1999. Reimbursement for salary and benefits will be paid through
the university. Travel, per diem and post differential will also be
covered.
