Dale makes an interesting point, but what does "inherently sustainable"
imply for food supply? My impression is that transportation, air
conditioning, etc. will all compete directly with traditional food-and-
shelter uses for biomass.

How will we manage so that poor folks don't starve in order to fuel
rich folks' perks? Don't we have this management problem already?
