COMMUNITY INVOLVED IN SUSTAINING AGRICULTURE (CISA)
Amherst, Massachusetts

Programs and Membership Coordinator

CISA is a community organization dedicated to sustaining
agriculture in western Massachusetts by strengthening the
relationship between farmers and consumers. We focus on
environmental sustainability, farm profitability, and on building
local and secure food systems. We are a young non-profit with a
small staff and an active board. CISA's new Program and
Membership Coordinator will have the opportunity to strengthen
innovative existing programs, such as FarmNet and EarthSpun, and
to contribute to our transition to a member-based community
organization.

Duties and Responsibilities include:
--Administer FarmNet information and referral service;
--Coordinate, oversee, or provide liaison support to other CISA
projects, including EarthSpun, Chefs' Collaborative 2000,
Women of Family Farms, and volunteer community Action Groups;
--Develop and implement member recruitment strategies;
--Plan public and member events, such as annual meeting and
harvest celebration;
--Build and maintain relationships with funders, write grant
proposals for CISA programs;
--Generate media attention for CISA programs and activities;
--Supervision of program assistant, interns, and work-study
students;
--Other duties as requested.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:
--Commitment to CISA's mission of sustaining agriculture in
western Massachusetts by strengthening the farmer/consumer
connection;
--Community organizing skills and experience;
--Experience with participatory, cooperative program planning
and execution;
--Successful grantwriting and fundraising experience;
--High degree of self-motivation and experience motivating
others;
--Ability to manage and prioritize many tasks in small,
cooperative office environment;
--Strong interpersonal skills;
--Excellent oral and written communications skills;
--Computer skills: word processing, electronic communication,
database;
--Ability to develop and implement member tracking system;
--Familiarity with sustainable agriculture and local food
systems

Compensation:
$25,000-$30,000, commensurate with experience. Health insurance,
holiday, sick, and vacation benefits.

Program Assistant

CISA is a community organization dedicated to sustaining
agriculture in western Massachusetts by strengthening the
relationship between farmers and consumers. We focus on
environmental sustainability, farm profitability, and on building
local and secure food systems. We are a young non-profit with a
small staff and an active board. The Program Assistant will work
with other CISA staff to support several CISA programs and the
active involvement of CISA members in our activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
--Assist with launch of substantial marketing campaign focused
on sustainable agriculture in western Massachusetts;
--Assist with other CISA programs, including FarmNet information
and referral hotline, EarthSpun natural fibers marketing
network, Chefs' Collaborative 2000 chapter, and community
Action Group projects as needed. Examples of specific duties
include:
--Database development and resource verification for FarmNet;
--Research for FarmNet callers;
--Phone contact with EarthSpun members, callers, and customers;
--EarthSpun customer record-keeping;
--Work with the Program Coordinator to plan community and member
events;
--Work with the Program Coordinator to track membership;
--Provide general office support as needed, including data-
entry;
--Other duties as requested.

--Commitment to CISA's mission of sustaining agriculture in
western Massachusetts by strengthening the farmer/consumer
connection;
--Self-motivation and the ability to ask for help when needed;
--Ability to manage and prioritize many tasks in small,
cooperative office environment;
--Interest in community organizing, building strong and diverse
communities, marketing, and communications;
--Strong interpersonal skills;
--Strong oral and written communications skills;
--Computer skills: word processing, electronic communication,
database;
--Interest in sustainable agriculture and local food systems.

Compensation: $20,000-$25,000, commensurate with experience.
Health insurance, holiday, sick, and vacation benefits.
