Nancy,
We couldn't find the species you mentioned in our flora but suggest that you
look at ways of removing the fluff if you want to be able to drill the seeds.
You might try rubbing them either by hand or using some other method. It may
also be possible to use cellulase or slug-gut contents to digest the fluff off
the seed. You would obviously have to test this to ensure it didn't damage the
seeds themselves.
We have used an Oyord precision drill to plant Bromus species and wild oats
after removing awns and some hairs by hand. The seed was mixed with fine sand
after removal of the awns to allow it to pass evenly through the drill
coulters.
I don't know if this helps at all. Good luck with it!
Geoff
