Food Irradiation Video Hits the World Wide Web:GMA Unveils Inside Look at
Unique Food Safety Tool at www.gmabrands.com

WASHINGTON, June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- An on-line, one-of-a-kind video guide
highlighting an effective weapon in the war on foodborne illness --
irradiation -- has debuted on the Grocery Manufacturers of America Internet
Web site. By logging onto the GMA home page at www.gmabrands.com, you can
take a virtual tour of a Florida food irradiation facility to see just how
simple, safe and effective the irradiation process really is.

"Food irradiation is the future of food safety technology and should be taken
very seriously by America's consumers. This technology is a secret weapon in
fighting food-borne illness, with the potential to affect an enormous quantity
of fruits, vegetables and meats," said C. Manly Molpus, GMA President and CEO.

The comprehensive, digitized video is accompanied by speeches from GMA's
recent irradiation conference in Washington, D.C., media clips, quotes from
various irradiation experts and information on irradiation companies.

Also included on GMA's Web site is recent survey information conducted by
Peter Hart and Associates regarding consumer attitudes on irradiation. Among
other statistics, the Hart survey states nearly half (48%) of all shoppers
favor the use of irradiation to increase the safety of food products such as
meat, poultry, and produce.
