RE: organic transition
*Feed* oats seed is fairly inexpensive and may be a good cover crop.
Others may include sudex (sorghum x sudan grass), rye, barley, or other
grasses that will contribute biomass. Legumes may include sunhemp,
cowpeas, or soybeans as long as nematodes and other pests (aphids,
whiteflies, etc) don't become a problem.
Organic amendments such as composts and organic mulches would also be
helpful.
