Grafting/ Varieties

Many of the problems that are associated with grafted fruit are not from the
actual process of grafting but in the selection of what to graft. Flavor and
nutrition are not the most important criteria in evaluating a variety.
Uniform
maturity, shipping qualities, insect and disease resistance and pounds of
production are easier to evaluate and reward the bottom line better than
taste and nutrition.

I have seen a lot of test on peaches and water melons. I have seen
peaches that could be dropped 2 feet on concrete and not bruise. What
little taste they vaguely tasted like a peach and they went from ripe to
trash in about 2 or 3 days but boy did they ship nice. From what I have
tasted it seems the better the shipping qualities the less taste.
