The best source of advice are you neighbors and the local extension agent.
They can tell you what works in your area. Every area is different because
of location and climate. The way your neighbors do things has evolved over
the last hundred years. Jumping in with new and better ways you almost sure
to fail unless you understand what and why you are doing things different.

Before you can make meaningful changes you must understand the old
ways.
