Below is a reply I have tried to send you many times but I get no
response/errors with your email "donovan@koyote.com"
Dear Jack,
My interest is many-fold. I am a BioResource and Agricultural
Engineering
graduate from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, California (1993). I have a
long
standing interest in international agricultural development. During and
since college I have travelled widely in Asia (India, Tibet, Nepal,
Thailand, Malaysia, China). I am considering going back to grad school
to study international agriculture. I was in Tibet for 2 onths in the
fall of 1994. I have wanted to go back ever since. I belong to several
Tibetan organizations. I have found that there is very little
information available about not only practices in Tibet but also the
projects being funded by international donor agencies.
I was involved with a study of World Bank/USAID irrigation projects in
India last year. Needless to say there are alot of lessons that can be
learned from mistakes made in other parts of Asia. I'm afraid that the
zeal with which the Chinese are implementing ag intensive projects in
Tibet bodes badly for the future of the environment of Tibet.
That is a brief outine of my interests in Tibet and agriculture.
I have had a little info flow in about current projects but am still
researching.
Have you seen the upcoming conference on Sustainable Development in
western China.

So I would really appreciate any info you have. I am trying to build up
a file on all aspects of Tibetan agriculture.
I am also going to look for sponsorship to attend the above conference.
Let me know if you have any ideas about that.
Thanks,
Beau Freeman
